Feathers, pelts, and horns of every size and color of the rainbow. He only stared in amazement. He included all the suggestions that his family had given along with with his ideas that included stardust, sun rays, and some gold moons to circle around it in orbit. When he finished he sat the frog on the bench and held out his new tail. It was long, sleek, black, and shone like the surface of the water at night. The Frog was very disappointed. I distinctly asked for a tail that would shine brighter than the sun and stars!
God smiled. Something flashy that would serve no purpose for your life in your small pond. This tail is proportioned to fit you. It will sense any predator who tries to sneak up on you and it is made of the sleekest materials that will propel your body away quickly through any waves, large or small. It flew out the window landing not too far from where where his family sat waiting. The baby picked it up and played with it for a while before growing tired of it and tossing it aside. As a result of this, all tadpoles were given the gift of a tail to play with for a day or two before it shrinks away.
Eventually he stopped to rest beside a riverbank. There he sat lost in thought. So alas, the frog had become so angry that he died without a tail. When we look at the tadpole we can see that indeed the tail makes for an excellent way to move the young amphibian forward, in fact it is the only way they can move.
We need to look at the way the adult moves to understand the absence of a frog tail —basically it would get in the way of the leaping motion that the frog uses to move across the land.
Of course most species of frog are also partially aquatic, so one might think that a frog would find a tail useful for swimming in the same way as fish use their tails to propel them forward. However, frogs swim in a breaststroke-like style that is quite different from other animals that take to the water, and the tail is not needed even in frogs that do not venture out of water. At first glance it seems that because of the way frogs move on land they have no tail, and because they have no tail they had to develop an innovative aquatic movement, but we cannot conclusively say that is accurate.
Just what is it about the frog that made it evolve in such a different way to other animals with backbones? Standing in the hallway, awaiting her arrival, I tried to prepare myself for whatever punishment was to be doled out. At length, probably after she finished the spelling test for the rest of the class, the classroom door opened and she stepped out into the hallway. I don't remember what all she said, but I think I remember her asking if I needed to move to the front of the class.
I assured her, that was neither wanted nor necessary. She warned me that further shenanigans would result in my relocation. I wasn't moved to the front of the class that day. That would come a few weeks later, when - once again - I let my stubborn, selfish self-importance and pride get the best of me. All I'll say about that is that Marjory Fischer shouldn't have leaned back on her chair against my desk.
But, perhaps that is another story for yet another episode for yet another day. When "they" say, " Pride goeth before destruction and a haughty spirit before a fall " Proverbs , they aren't kiddin'.

In reading this story, I found it interesting how the author, Thornton W. Burgess , managed to personify the wind and breezes. You see, Mrs. Redwing knew that Farmer Brown's son was coming to get her egg and she became very anxious about it.
So, as good friends and neighbor's do, they stepped in and helped out. Redwing didn't have to ask them. They saw a need that a member of their community had and simply did what they could. Who would've thought that a simple thing like playfully carrying a hat into the Green Meadow to divert the young boy's attention would be all it would take.
Well, tha. Read more. March 12, Image by PeopleImages Most people, at least at some time in their life, will find themselves in difficult times and perhaps start feeling a bit lonely. Perhaps it is a consequence of a choice they made. Other times, this feeling of loneliness comes when we are in an unfamiliar place or situation and there is seemingly no one around to assist.
The little Breeze waits a little too long to return to Old Mother West Wind at the end of a long day and eventually finds itself alone. What the little Breeze does in that place and situation is a good example of how to overcome loneliness. Years ago, when my wife and I were first married, we moved into our first apartment in Kent, Washington.
